Black Excellence at UChicago is thrilled to feature Frank Baker AB’94, co-founder and managing partner of Siris Capital Group, LLC, in conversation with Patrick Phillips AB’92, AM’92, to discuss his experience as an economics major at UChicago and transition to his illustrious career at Siris—scaling Siris from a concept to a firm, building a successful team, and carving out a unique leadership position in the technology investment industry. Baker has helped oversee the firm’s 15 platform equity invests, representing over $7 billion in value.

Baker was inducted into the UChicago Hall of Fame in 2003, as the all-time leading rusher in UChicago modern era football history and two-time Academic All-American. Baker has been a major supporter of the College, including a gift of $7 million for the Odyssey program, which endows undergraduate scholarships and internships for students from lower-income families or who are the first in their families to attend college. In 2016, Baker was elected to the Board of Trustees.
