100 Black Men of Chicago College Summer Series

The College Summer Series is a six-part series of workshops designed to prepare students for their post-secondary education goals. Through sessions lead by admissions counselors from UChicago and other partner colleges, students and families will learn about the finding the right college fit, the application process, financial aid, much more!

Finding My Thrive - June 19, 2021
The kickoff event of the summer series will explore how to the right college fit, and for parents, how to support your student in their search process.

Now I Need a Plan - June 26, 2021
 Learn about fly-in programs, tips for interviews, how to demonstrate your interest, and the next steps in finding the right college home.

What App - July 10, 2021
What does really test-optional mean? Who should write your recommendation? And, what counts as an "extracurricular" activity? This session will break down the components of the Coalition and Common Applications along with an essay writing workshop to help you put your best foot forward in your application.

Show Me The Money - July 17, 2021
Learn more about need-based and merit-based financial aid, what documents are needed, and how to find the best financial fit in the college search process.

How Am I Doing - July 24, 2021
You get to be the committee! Put your expertise into action in this case study workshop. Students will review sample applications and act as a mock admissions committee. See what an application looks like on the other side of the desk.

Help Me Understand - July 31, 2021
The college series culminates in a collection of panels featuring a diverse group of schools. Participants can virtually visit rooms with liberal arts colleges, research universities, HBCUs, and more.
